What to expect with an exotic rental car in Miami

I have been to Miami many times and have never been disappointed. It seems to get better every time but this comes back to trying new things. One year, I held a get-together and asked my best friend from high school to join me after the meeting. We were going to hang out to talk about the “good days” but the catch was that we were going to rent a car in Miami. I feel happy, but I really don’t know what will happen. I searched the net, found the company, called and asked a few questions and before I knew it I got a call that a car was waiting for me downstairs. It’s a beautiful Ithica Green (Neon) Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. This is by far the best time I’ve had in Miami so far and I highly recommend it. So if you are looking for an exotic car rental Miami then consider the following:
1. Look at the competition
Maybe they didn’t want to finish it all but how do you think they built the Bellagio? With stiff competition, your hard-earned dollars are often a better deal for classic car enthusiasts. With a few phone calls and some surfing, you’ll find that some offer deals on select cars while others offer discounts on rentals for certain hours. Some lure you in by offering hourly rates instead of daily rates. If a car can be rented for $1000 to $2800 for 24 hours then maybe only 5 hours will do! You may also be surprised to find that you can save hundreds of dollars on some cars just by hiring another company. Same car, same capacity, lower price… go figure. I love competition!
2. Read the fine print
For any foreign rental car in Miami, there is a mileage limit. This means keeping the mileage low and thus maintenance costs low…or lower since they are never “low”. Mileage limits range from 50 miles a day to 150 miles a day. Every mile over the limit will cost you between $1 and $3,500 EVERY MILLION! So don’t think you’ll drive to Los Angeles and back without making a serious investment! You also encounter a cancellation policy. Some are as simple as others, so if you think you might have to cancel, check their policy. Some charge you the full rental while others charge $500. That’s a big difference so check it out. Since the law requires 48 hours or 72 hours before the rental period, you need to know what time counts as your rental period so that there is no time dispute.
3. Insurance, breakdown, and other fun things
Yes, you should call and tell your insurance company that you are planning to find an exotic car rental Miami and take a ride. All Exotic Rentals require you to bring auto insurance and you will verify that. But they won’t check if your coverage is complete. I called and got full details.
If I destroy a $450,000 Lamborghini Murcielago and it costs $300,000 to repair, they will fix it after I pay. If I meet another Murcielago (what’s the chance. Oh, I forgot, in Miami, that’s actually a good chance!) And it’s my fault, they’ll only pay up to $100,000. The rest is on me. That’s unlikely but check your personal risk meter and ask the rental company about additional insurance if they offer it.
Also, the rental company may come after you because of “events” like losing money. If you fix their car and it takes 2 weeks, they lost 2 weeks of money from that car. That maximum cost is not covered in your policy. If you’re concerned about some of these things, ask if they have a renewal program or ask your carrier if they offer temporary renewals for your plan. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
